Aquarium
Short Film | 2020

During the COVID period, her art studies came to a halt;
it was forbidden to go anywhere.
Only businesses defined as essential remained open.

Out of a desire not to give up on human connection, Mendelson found herself forming a bond with the owner of an aquarium shop. She opened and closed the place with him,
talked about the present and the future, and about goldfish.

Close to Home
Short Film | 2018

Close to Home is a short film, one of Mendelson’s early works.

The film was shot in the city of Tel Aviv, where she grew up, between the sea and Tomerkin’s Holocaust Memorial, between an innocent childhood and parents who are second-generation Holocaust survivors. The square, in which the memorial stands, is named after Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who was assassinated in 1995 by Yigal Amir.

In this work, Mendelson asks about the possibility of creating and jumping into the water, when explosive content from the past pursues her from all directions.
